WinPET Help

Keyboard Shortcuts

CTRL + F = Shortcuts
CTRL + C = Customize (from home screen only)
CTRL + H = Home
CTRL + S = Sound ON/OFF

  • Right-clicking in the menus stops all icons from scrolling
  • On the home screen, you can move WinPET by holding CTRL and the directional keys

Hiding/Minimizing WinPET

By clicking the Minimize button in the top right corner, WinPET will be minimized to the system tray. You can restore it simply by double clicking the Icon.

Starting WinPET with Windows

In every Start menu, there is a folder called ‘Startup’. The shortcuts in there will automatically load when you log into Windows. By placing a shortcut to WinPET in this folder, it will start automaticlly. The Startup folder is located in
Windows XP: “C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”
Windows Vista: “C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”

Shortcuts

You can save links to your favorite programs and websites on the shortcut screen. The first three shortcuts will also be accessable from the top left corner of the home screen. To edit your shortcuts, click the ‘Edit Shortcuts’ icon in the corner of the shortcut screen. In the ‘Shortcut manager’ you can change the target path and write a custom name for your shortcut. To remove a shortcut, leave the name and path space blank. To add a program or file on your computer you must find and paste the full path of the file. Right-click on the file and click properties. Copy the link next to “Target” and paste it into the slot in WinPET. You can do the same with an internet URL, or simply type in the URL. When you are finished adding the shortcuts, click OK to save and move on to the next 3 shortcuts. You can press CTRL+S at any time to return to the shortcut manager without saving your changes.

Media/IM/Browser Shortcuts

WinPET has shortcut slots for the most popular/well known media player, browsers, and IM Clients. Setting up these shortcuts is as simple as the others; all you have to do is find the file path and paste it into WinPET. Unfortunately, WinPET cannot ‘auto-detect’ the location of your applications.

Moving WinPET

Unfortunately, you cannot move WinPET by clicking and dragging. On the home screen, by holding CTRL and the directional keys, you can change the Position of WinPET on your screen. You can make WinPET float above all other windows by going to the ‘Window Position’ screen in the Customizer and checking the box in the corner. These settings will be reset the next time you open WinPET.

Hi. WinPET cannot be used as your ‘desktop’. You can make WinPET start when you turn on your computer by copying a shortcut into your startup folder (More info on the WinPET HELP page)

  15. jake Says:

    realy cool!!!!! ty

  16. jake Says:

how do i know it wored? i dont see its icon

  17. Liam Says:

Check your start menu. It hasn’t been tested on anything lower than Windows XP, so i do not know if it works.

well i did not find it so shud i try downlouding again cuz it did not go to 100%

  19. jake Says:

    just 99%

  20. Liam Says:

I’m afraid i cant help you if it isn’t working on Windows 98. It was created on windows XP FOR windows XP. WinPET Will not harm your computer in any way, and if your parents are stopping you from using it, there is nothing i can do about that either.

And if you have any more questions to ask, please mail them to windowspet.blog@gmail.com. This is not a chat room.

  21. jake Says:
